Openreach Network
It is really quick and easy to find out if you can connect to superfast or ultrafast broadband.
Just enter your telephone number or postcode into this fibre broadband checker
If it says ‘Superfast Is Available’, this means that you are in an FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet) area.
If it says ‘Ultrafast Full Fibre Is Available’, this means you are in a Full Fibre i.e. FTTP (Fibre to the Premises) area. Take a look at our FTTP Ordering page for more information.
If you are in an apartment or office block in an FTTP enabled area, your landlord or management company will need to get in touch with Openreach to arrange for the building to be enabled. Please see the FTTP Ordering page for more information.
Alternative Providers (Altnets)
Altnets provide an alternative to Openreach’s national network, providing consumers with more choice. In Cornwall the following altnets are active:
Wildanet
Wildanet have rolled out a full fibre network in parts of Liskeard, Pensilva, Dobwalls and Callington and are building in Torpoint, Launceston and Wadebridge. Wildanet have also been appointed to deliver part of the Government’s Project Gigabit rollout in the southwest and central rural parts of Cornwall – see details here.
Jurassic Fibre
Jurassic Fibre are building their full fibre network in Bude, Stratton, Poughill and Flexbury, with many areas now live and others set to go live shortly.
Cheaper broadband for people on benefits

If you would like more technical detail
You can find out more about predicted speeds on the Openreach network using the BT Wholesale checker. This is a more ‘technical’ checker, designed for the trade – but you can use it and you may find it useful for additional technical detail. The checker only works for phone numbers that are provided by BT Wholesale, so will not work for Sky and TalkTalk Customers.
