Our journey so far
Superfast Cornwall was launched in 2011 and the first phase of the programme ran until 2015. For more details of the funding and achievements of the programmes below, click the evaluation link to the right.
2011 – 2015 Superfast Cornwall Programme
By the end of this phase of the programme in 2015, the Superfast Cornwall partnership had achieved the following milestones:
- Over 12,000 businesses connected
- £200 million economic impact
- Over 4600 businesses with improved performance
- 4500 jobs created or safeguarded
This £132m phase was funded by the EU (ERDF), Cornwall Council and BT.
2015 – 2017 Superfast Extension Project (SEP) Programme
The £9.5m extension was funded by BDUK and Cornwall Council and Growth Deal/RGF funding. The programme exceeded its targets, reaching over 10,000 premises.
2017 – 2020 Superfast 2 Programme
The £18.8m programme was funded by the EU (ERDF & EAFRD), Cornwall Council and BDUK. This programme upgraded over 9,700 of the most challenging premises in Cornwall with full fibre (FTTP) technology.
At the end of the programme, Cornwall had 95% coverage of 30+ Mbps superfast broadband with 42% coverage of future-proofed, full fibre technology.
2021 – 2023 ‘Superfast 3 – Inclusive Growth’ Programme
This business support programme was funded by the EU (ERDF) and Cornwall Council, and aimed to help businesses make the most of digital solutions, in particular targeting businesses that were ‘behind the curve’ in their use of digital solutions, as well as those in more deprived areas.
